Times are changing and with it so are we as a community, with the ever increasing amount of Turkish Students in UK Universities to non-manual labour Turkish business springing up across the country.

Turkey is going through an exciting era in its history. After all who would have thought with all of the political contention of previous years Turkey would give 12 points to Greece in the Eurovision song contest.

But on a more serious note change in Turkish politics has seen Turkey transform itself from a stereo typed Middle Eastern state to one with political and economic power. No stone seems unturned even the football ruling bodies seemed to be affected as one major UK tabloid commented Turkey having "increased power within UEFA".

This month we held a launch dinner party sponsored by Huseyin Ozer to whom we are very grateful. Also we saw the launch of two books addressing the Armenian issue. Both books are a welcome addition to deal with the parody of Armenian genocide claims.

We are pleased to see that TIME magazine has distributed 49,000 DVD's addressing the Turkish-Armenian relations as well as Edinburgh Council postponing its Armenian symposium thanks to the efforts of a group of Turkish activist from www.turkish-network.org.

Within these digital pages you will read what the consulate employees get up to in their busy days, part I of our "How to start-up your business" guide and a review of Orhan Pamuk's BBC4 award nominated book.

This month we also continue the debate on Europe and Turkey which was hosted by The Economist. The Turkey-EU debate continues, and no matter how it ends we appreciate the journey this discussion is taking Turkey through.
