“Ottoman Kaside in London”, unearthed by Emre Araci after 150 years

Sultan Abdulaziz was the first and only Ottoman King who visited England in 1867's summer as an official guest of Queen Victoria. To his honour, an English chorus with 1600 singers recited a Turkish "kaside" (a type of musical praise poem) in London's Crystal Palace. After a long and rigorous research, Emre Araci with Prag Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonic chorus, made a "premier" recording of this piece called "Inno Turco" that is composed by Italian musician Luigi Arditi.

The composition which is essentially a tribute to Sultan Abdulaziz together with Hymne National by Angelo Mariani and symphony-fantasy "On the shores of Bosphorus" by August D'Adelburg are considered as important but forgotten components of choral and symphonic Ottoman music repertoire. After nearly 150 years, all these works are being unearthed once again thanks to this world premier recording. UK based Composer and Conductor Emre Araci's new CD “Istanbul to London” is out now.
